The motor sports history of Alberto Castelli began in 1968. Passion and precise demands from a group of "gentlemen drivers" of fiery Porsche Carrea 6 & 911, led to the popularity of his headquarters in Via Zuccoli 22, in Milan. Castelli prepares and assists the Porsches of Mario Ilotte, Giancarlo Rondanini, Oreste Brero and the promising Gian Piero Moretti, who for the last thirty years has held high the name of Italian motor racing in the world. In 1969, one of the first indoor engine test was inaugurated and along with the competition Porsche, other interesting models were prepared. In 1973, Castelli's headquarters also became the authorized service center for the Lancia. Collaboration with their technicians resulted in resolving problems in the serial cars and the upgrading of those in competition. In the latter part of the 80's, the diffusion of the turbo models led to accurate studies of the efficiency of the over boosted engine, which permitted the realization of the first apparatus "Over boost Monostadio". After the first model, conceived for the Renault GT5 Turbo and sold for £100.000, the Over boost Kits develop rapidly in a large range. Castelli passes from the single stage to the double stage version (sold for £350.000) in 1986. The success is overwhelming. Castelli's headquarters evolves, enriching itself with a mini assembly line for the packaging of the new kit. Collaboration with the Casa Torinese continues with the Magnet Marelli program and, in 1989, the first intervention on the chip itself takes place. This was the starting point for the diffusion of the electronically elaborated Kit, in which Castelli is the forerunner in Italy. The applications were multiplied and the chip was perfected, always careful to keep an optimum ratio between the increased horsepower and the torque while retaining the reliability and the pleasure of driving. Thanks to today's technological progress, the constant renewal of equipment consents Castelli and his crew to furnish the Kit for every novelty introduced on the market. Castelli Italtec, a modern microchip "clinic" which has the newest equipment necessary for the experimentation, production, inspection and assembly of the electronic elaboration, occupies 2000 sq meter premises in which 800 are enclosed. The Italtec headquarters, fully air-conditioned, is situated in the northeast area of Milan. It is easily accessible from the highway using the Cinisello exit on the urban line of the Torino-Venezia highway. With 45 years of experience in this field and an annual production of thousands of Kits, Castelli Italtec has a wide experience of gas, diesel and turbo engines and their software.
